After splashing a record breaking $15 million on Argentinian Ezequiel Barco, Atlanta United have today announced that the youngster will miss the first 4 weeks of the MLS season at least.

Most teams would not consider it a huge blow to lose an 18 year old from their squad at this stage of the season however, comparisons to 5 Stripes star Miguel Almiron and even Lionel Messi have sparked a huge interest in the talent of Barco.

It's understood that the player sustained a quad strain during training on Tuesday and was assessed before the announcement was made the following day.

After signing for Atlanta, Barco was instrumental in some of the team's forward play in pre-season games and fans will have been expecting to see him in the squad to face Houston on Saturday.
