Portland Timbers have secured the signature of Peru international forward Andy Polo.

The deal has been talked about for weeks but Polo's club manager at Morelia, Roberto Hernandez, confirmed that the transfer was done following his side's 1-0 Liga MX win over Puebla.

Sources claim that the combined outlay of transfer fee and salary will amount to $3 million over three years and that targeted allocation money will be used to buy down his wages so that Polo won't be required to use up a designated player spot.

Polo, 23, joined Morelia at the beginning of the 2016 Apertura season and including the 2017 Clausura, he made 16 league and cup appearances, scoring three goals.

Recently, Polo made just 10 league and cup appearances and failed to score.

The former Inter Milan player will be hoping to make more of an impact after his move to Cascadia where he'll join attacking team mates Sebastian Blanco, Fanendo Adi, and MLS MVP Diego Valeri.
