Houston Dynamo Acquire Juan David Cabezas Permanently
The first winter signing for Houston is a familiar face for Dynamo fans who watched Juan David Cabezas play for the Texas side throughout the 2017 season.
The midfielder made 27 appearances for Dynamo this season and finished top of the class 1,052 passes, 77 tackles won and 52 interceptions. This prompted the team to acquire Cabezas on a permanent deal from Colombian side Deportivo Cali.
"Juan David impacted the Houston Dynamo with his presence on the field throughout the season," coach Wilmer Cabrera said in a statement. "He was a top player in the midfield for us and is a natural ball winner. This year he showed his discipline, that he can tackle the ball, win the ball and strike the ball. He was very solid and an important element for the team to be successful this season."
The team are yet to announce a permanent deal for attacker Elis who was on loan throughout 2017 from Mexican side Monterrey. Elis scored 10 goals and provided 4 assists as well as netting in the MLS playoffs too.
