Lee Nguyen Traded To LAFC
After missing all of New England Revolution's 2018 action so far, it's no surprise that Lee Nguyen has left the club in a trade with Los Angeles FC.
Major League Soccer's newest team moved in to their brand new Banc of California Stadium last weekend and have now parted with $700,000 Allocation Money in exchange for the former Revolution captain.
It's thought the Texan was being punished for returning to pre-season training 3 weeks late although coach Brad Friedel stated Nguyen's absence on the pitch was simply a matter of fitness.
Speaking just last week, Nguyen said “As a soccer player, as an athlete, you always have to keep an open mind. But at the same time, I’m here, I have a contract for this year and possibly for two more. Whatever happens, I’m open-minded to wherever the soccer journey leads me.”
The attacking midfielder joins an extremely creative LAFC side that haven't exactly struggled for goals. Initially though, Nguyen fills an urgent need for the Californian side, who will be without playmaking forward Marco Urena for several weeks after facial surgery.
